PROJECT: OIL & GAS PRODUCTION PIT CLOSURES
CLIENT: MARATHON OIL COMPANY
LOCATION: BRIDGEPORT, ILLINOIS
DESCRIPTION:
Solidification of approximately 150 oil & gas production facility pits containing production and drilling wastes with varying amounts of hydrocarbons, barium compounds, and trace amounts of heavy metals. Total amount of sludge treated over a two-year period, approximately 180,000 cubic yards.
These pits were located in row crop areas and in most cases required backfilling to level grade in order to support cash crop production immediately. The client had experienced past failures in accomplishing reliable results by utilizing inferior solidification techniques and materials. Past failures included sinking areas over backfilled pits and quagmires created by the stabilized sludges reverting back to their original state.
To date all 150 sites processed using the Soli-Bond System have proven to be predictably stable with many supporting normal row crop and land use conditions.
